Identity and freedom are noble pursuits, but are we meant to pursue them?
There's a deep longing within each of us to know who we are and to live in freedom. While these are essential to the believer's life, they must not be the goal. Rather, when we pursue the identity of Christ and His presence, we will trade in an inferior goal that will only lead to ourselves, and instead embark on a journey that will lead us to Christ. In doing so, we become His likeness to the world around us. This longing within all humanity has been designed by God to lead us to our Savior. Jesus is our great pursuit. And finding Him, we find Life. This is where our identity is inextricably intertwined with His and we live in the freedom of His Presence. Because as He is, so are you. You are His mirror image.

In the same way that God rescued me from myself, I have had the privilege of partnering with God to free others to step into the truth of who they are and all that they have in Christ. With over 25 years of ministry experience as a pastor and a communicator, I have seen how God has opened believers’ eyes to see Him in a new way, to hear His voice as He created them to, and bring inner healing in a way that can only come from an intimate relationship with Him. And in doing this, I have seen how these fundamental truths have been a catalyst to propel people into partnering with God to free those around them. It is an honor to be a part of your journey, as well.

But all too often, what begins as a noble goal can result in the making of an idol. If we are to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, then even our search for identity and freedom must first begin with who Jesus is and His righteousness.
